Unlike most existing art programs, our goal is not to create draftsmen who are able to recreate an image exactly nor to teach our students to become miniature clones of the masters. While we do help students find inspiration in the work of professional artists and artistic styles, our objective is to inspire artists to find their own voice and to produce work that has a life of its own. We encourage our students to think beyond perfection and find the joy in simply creating to create. Art is a language that is visual; one that can resonate with one person in a completely different way than another. Art is a way to communicate a powerful thought without words, to start a conversation, and to find inner peace. With this in mind, we strive to help our artists of the future express themselves freely and without judgement.
LYNX Art Academy is an exciting new art program based out of Clarksburg, MD. LAA’s curriculum has been created by Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) graduate Shay McCafferty, along with collaborations by other practicing professional artists. All courses are designed to introduce students to different processes and art forms, allowing them to create artwork that pushes boundaries and, at the same time, is full of discovery and self-expression.
