How to make fried plantains

  1. Wash and cut the plantain into pieces that are 1/2 inch thick. Remove the plantain peel from all of the pieces.

  2. In a frying pan, fill the bottom with 1 inch of Canola oil and turn the burner on medium. Wait until the oil starts to have tiny bubbles.

  3. Using kitchen tongs, begin to place your plantain pieces into the oil, be careful, it's very hot! Let them cook for a couple minutes and then flip them over.

  4. When they are a crispy light golden brown, remove them from the oil and place them onto a paper towel in order to soak up the remaining oil.

  5. Let plantains cool off and then enjoy! For a little extra flavor, sprinkle them with powdered sugar.
